The Gokai or 5 Principles of Reiki – Why Bother ?

For the Reiki student, these five teachings are at the heart of the personal inner Reiki journey and perhaps they seem a little odd to be the foundations for a healing modality, but on closer inspection, they open the way to a more harmonious state of “Being” and increase your connection to Reiki.

By focusing on these concepts and integrating them into your daily life, you will feel more energised as the negative emotions and thoughts are challenged and the positives are promoted. In essence, you are using the Universal Life force to bring yourself into harmony with – ”the Universal Life Force” and in doing so, bringing yourself back into a state of balance and “wellness”.

By repeating these 5 secrets and practicing them daily, we begin to embody their teaching.

JUST FOR TODAY, FIRST WE SAY – ANGER NOT

We all meet anger in ourselves and our experiences. With awareness, allow anger to teach us of its nature. We cannot achieve the absence of anger by denying its presence or by allowing it to control us. We conquer anger by courage, tolerance and awareness. When we honour our feelings and the feelings of others, the Truth emerges. So today, try to commit to the process of eliminating the unfulfilled desires, attachments, expectations and fears that give rise to anger.

SECONDLY WE SAY – WORRY NOT

Today, try to harmonise with the Universal Life Force and trust in its love and wisdom to sustain and protect you. Do not question or fear the choices that Wisdom has presented to you in your daily experiences.

THIRD WE SAY – BE GRATEFUL

The opportunity to learn, to share, to grow and realise the Self, is the greatest of gifts. Let Gratitude flow from your heart as you realise the unique Blessing that is “Your Life”. Today, give gratitude for the many gifts given, those you consciously recognise and those you do not yet see.

FOURTH WE SAY – DO YOUR DUTIES

Be diligent in all your dealings, approach all situations with honesty, mindfulness, care and attention.

FIFTH WE SAY – BE KIND TO OTHERS

Everything comes from one source, so for today, try to honour every being with great love, respect and kindness.

So to improve your life – change your heart, change your mind, change your health.
